Reading for Pleasure
Reading is at the heart of our school and we seize every opportunity to enjoy a good book. During the school day, we take part in whole class reading as well individual reading time and guided reading sessions. Our termly novel study often inspires us to read books written by the same author and we love to get creative with competitions such as reading challenges!
The Lending Library
At Copley, we believe that anyone and everyone should have the opportunity to love reading. In our School Reception, we have our very own lending library so everyone in our school community can access reading books.
Follow the link above to access a whole range of books online. Books are organised under different curriculum headings so that you can find books relating to your learning in school or your own interests.
Boom Reader
We use the Boom Reader App to record our reading at home and at school!
You can download the app by following the instructions below...
World Book Day
Every year, we celebrate World Book Day. Sometimes we dress up as book characters and sometimes we choose a theme.
Mrs Henfield organises reading challenges and competitions for us to take part in. We love getting involved and using our creativity skills!
We have created potato book characters, matchbox book characters and so much more.
Check out Twitter (@CopleyJunior) to find out more about how we celebrate our love of books!
Reading Buddies
Reading a good book is great, but sharing a good book is even better! Across school, pupils have the chance to share their reading books, supporting each other with word recognition, fluency and expression.

Branching Out
At Copley, we love a good book. We especially love it when we find other books by the same author or books by different authors which are written in a similar style.
